He believes Millfield will be a tough place to go, but has faith his Seasiders will turn attacking pressure and opportunities created into goals in the near future.

“I’m happy with the start we have made.” He said, “but I do feel we could have picked up more than the two points we have.”

“All three games have been difficult, but we have matched our opponents and given as good as we got. I feel we have defended really well - whilst also being a threat going forward.

“I think the most pleasing thing is we have seen an improvement over the three games. Saturday’s performance against Blyth Town is an indication of how we want the side to play.”

“Looking back on our three games so far, the effort and commitment have been outstanding from all the players.

“We have created good chances in all of those games - it’s just a case of finishing those chances off.

“I would be concerned if we hadn’t created chances, but I know it’s only a matter of time before we convert them into goals.”

On the other side of the halfway line on Wednesday evening, the Black and Ambers lost their opening two games, but responded in style at the weekend.

Goals from Corey Nicholson, Glen Hargrave and Max Brandon made for a convincing 4-0 victory over Penrith, a result the Marske boss believes will have them brimming with confidence.

“I am sure it will be another tough game on Wednesday against Crook.” He said. “It’s always been a difficult place to go and get a result.

“They lost their opening two games with narrow defeats against Horden and Birtley, but had a great result at the weekend against Penrith.

“They’ll be full of confidence.”
