Paul Burton labelled Marske United the ‘underdogs’ ahead of this weekend’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Northern Premier League Consett.
The boss admitted his side would be able to go out and enjoy themselves without the pressure of expectation - but added a result was more than possible given the quality within his ranks.
Marske United enter the Emirates FA Cup at the Preliminary Round stage following the unfortunate withdrawal of then fellow Northern League outfit, Boro Rangers.
Consett had to fight through the Extra-Preliminary Round, beating North Shields after a replay at the Darren Persson Stadium - netting twice late to come back from a goal down.
The Steelmen from County Durham will be the heavy favourites to go through to the qualifying competition on Saturday afternoon, but Paul Burton sees that as somewhat of an opportunity.
“Like I’ve said, from my point of view, it’s about trying to build a bit of momentum and gain a bit of confidence.” The Marske United boss admitted.

“We won last Saturday. I think that’s the most important thing. Charlie (Watt) got two goals and I think we maybe could have gotten a couple more.
“It’ll be a tough game against Consett. We know that. Though I think sometimes, going and playing these sides that are supposedly better than us, in a higher league, makes it a bit easier.
“We’re the underdogs. We can go out and enjoy it, and hopefully give a good account of ourselves.
“We can go there (the Belle View Stadium) and win. I know that we can.
“If we apply ourselves properly, I know that we can go out get a result.”
