Dave Onions praised the quality of Marske United’s new frontman, Charlie Watt, following an emphatic start to life in yellow and blue.

Signed in the summer, Charlie leads the line with two goals in four games, sealing a total of four points for the club.

The forward opened the Seasiders’ account for the season against Whickham in an opening day draw, striking again in midweek to snatch victory against Crook Town.

Assistant boss Dave Onions had high praise for Charlie Watt, who was often stifled at the Millfield Ground during a contest of very few chances.

When a defensive error presented the ball to the forward, he made no mistake from the left flank, acrobatically celebrating in front of the travelling contingent.

“He’s a quality number nine.” Dave Onions said. “That’s why you bring these players into the club.

“Charlie’s grafted in the four games we’ve had, but his chances have been limited. It’s been a tough few games.

“He was quiet against Crook, he’s been stifled out. It wasn’t a pretty game of football, but when that chance came, he’s stuck it away in emphatic style.

“It was a proper striker’s finish, and not a bad celebration either!”
