Ground Grading & Pitch Drainage Update. Plus details of Go Fund Me below as support still needed

Conner Kacperski28 Apr 2023 - 09:26

Marske United are delighted to announce that Mount Pleasant is now of Grade C standard and further pitch drainage work is also planned for the summer.

The club have worked hard to achieve this with the help of our loyal band of hard-working volunteers who have carried out the improvement work financed by supporter donations via the Go Fund Me Ground Development Fund

These developments will enable the club to continue at Step 3 of the English football pyramid and maintain our place in the Northern Premier League following initial feedback from various inspections carried out by the FA and NPL.

Official ratification of the ground grading result is expected later in the summer once the team's for next year's division are confirmed and licensed by the league.

Additional work on improving pitch drainage will commence soon now this season has concluded.

While not a specific requirement for Grade C status, the club recognises that this is an area in need of further development.

This progress would not be possible without the support of the local community in and around the village and beyond.

Our team of volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout the season to get the ground up to Step 3 standard, giving up many hours of their spare time to make the necessary improvements required, and we would like to highlight and pay tribute to their brilliant efforts.

The Improvements So Far

As part of the improvements to Mount Pleasant, the Tin Shed Stand has been extended to the corner of the ground, doubled in size, and is now fully covered.

Additional covering has also been installed on the Main Stand walkway as well as the officials & season ticket holder’s entrance.

Extra seats have been placed in the Main Stand and the Tin Shed Stand bringing our official seating capacity to 250.

Behind the Southfield Road end of the ground, an additional concrete hard standing area has been installed by our volunteers.

New turnstiles and appropriate housing have been purchased and fitted to the Meadow Road side of the ground. The foundations have now been built in order to meet the three turnstile requirement set by the league and it will soon be in operation giving supporters another entrance to enter the ground.

The toilet facilities at Mount Pleasant have also been upgraded with more male toilets available and an additional female toilet block installed.

New ground maintenance equipment has also been acquired with an industry standard tractor now available for use by the club groundsman to improve the condition of the pitch before and after games.

Preparations are also underway to order a new food kiosk and accompanying housing units to accommodate it.

Finally, a new public address (PA) system has been purchased and delivered with installation due shortly to improve the sound quality around the ground on match days.

Fundraising

We would also like acknowledge and thank everyone who has donated towards the Go Fund Me Ground Development Fund where £17,802 was raised online to carry out these improvements.

This season our supporters and volunteers have ran many successful fundraising initiatives including sponsored walks by various groups, bucket collections around the ground, weekly blind cards, donations of memorabilia to be raffled for the club, and old programme sales.

In addition, we have also seen individual donations from supporters directly into the fund, alongside Seasider Sid collections, the Christmas Hamper Raffle and the well-received World Cup Predictor competition among many others.

All of these efforts collectively have helped to fund the ongoing improvements and the club would not be in the position it is today without your support.

Better Drainage & Development Fund Future

Going forward Marske United intend to continue the Go Fund Me Ground Development Fund to raise additional funds for the upcoming drainage work which will see the pitch dug up in order to install the new pipes.

We hope supporters will get behind this initiative to enable the club to install better drainage and have a better chance of ensuring more games do not fall foul of the Northeast weather.

Your support is certainly making a difference to the facilities at Mount Pleasant and matching the ambitions of the club.
