Marske United are delighted to confirm the signing of popular forward James Sayer, who returns to the John Keegan Stadium in a permanent move from Thornaby.
The 19-year-old links up with Paul Burton’s squad as our ninth addition of the summer, bringing with him a wealth of Northern League experience at such a young age.
Beginning his senior career with near-neighbours Redcar Athletic, James made 26 appearances before departing for Billingham Town.
He first joined Marske United in the summer of 2024, quickly establishing himself as a favourite amongst the terraces with an eye for goal and a fearless attitude.
Northallerton Town and Thornaby soon beckoned for the young forward, who returns to the John Keegan Stadium with the admiration of Paul Burton, who hailed his ability and attitude.
He said: “James played for Marske a couple of years back. He’s still a really young guy, but he’s got lots of experience.
“He gives us some real options. He can play centre-forward, he can play on the right or left of the attacking three, and he can play in the number ten role.
“I think he’ll be a great addition to the side.”
Welcome back to Marske, James. We’re all delighted to see you back in yellow.
