The club have been informed of the untimely death of lifelong supporter Mr John Keegan, who passed away on the 17th of June 2024.
John worked overseas for the majority of his working life but always kept up to date with the clubs’ fortunes. When at home John would always try to attend the Marske games home and away.
One of Johns best away days was travelling down to Crayford and watching the underdog Seasiders knock out VCD Athletic 3-2 in the 4th Round of the FA Vase trophy in the 2008/2009 season. Over the past three seasons Johns health dictated the number of times he was able to visit Mount Pleasant to watch his beloved Seasiders.
Since the days of previous chairman Peter Collinson John and his son Stephen have supported the club financially, although this funding largely went “under the radar” of fellow supporters. In recent times John helped financially with the floodlights, sponsored players and purchased shares in the club.
John always held some very forthright opinions about the club and made them known when talking to fellow supporters and committee members at games or around the village.
All at Marske United would like to offer our condolences to all of Johns family and friends at this very sad time and would like to put on record our appreciation of his financial support over the years.
RIP John
