
Northallerton took the lead almost immediately, scoring inside the opening minute with a quick and clinical attack that caught Marske cold. It was far from the ideal start for the home side, who were forced onto the back foot early on.
The next ten minutes passed with little incident, as Northallerton’s early goal remained the only real highlight. Both teams battled for control in midfield, but neither created any clear-cut chances during this spell.
In the 20th minute, Marske were given an opportunity to respond from a corner. The delivery caused confusion in the box and travelled all the way through the crowd of players. There were strong appeals for a penalty from the Marske side, but the referee was unmoved and waved play on.
Nine minutes later, Marske were caught in possession in the middle of the park, allowing Northallerton to break through on goal. It was a dangerous moment, but the resulting shot drifted wide of the post, sparing Marske further damage.
A key turning point came in the 36th minute when Northallerton were shown a red card, reducing them to ten men. This gave Marske a significant advantage heading into the remainder of the match.

Marske kept applying pressure, and in the 72nd minute Dawson had an effort from the edge of the box. However, he did not connect cleanly, and the ball rolled harmlessly out for a goal kick.
Four minutes later, Jacko cut in from the right-hand side and struck a shot from the edge of the area, but it went straight at the goalkeeper, who gathered comfortably.
In the 81st minute, Mills attempted an ambitious effort from around 40 yards, trying to catch the keeper off guard. His shot stayed low but ultimately went wide and failed to trouble the goal.
Marske’s persistence finally paid off in the 88th minute when Max Craggs rose highest in the box to meet a cross and powered a header into the net to equalise, sparking celebrations among the players and supporters.
Momentum was now firmly with Marske, and just a minute later they came agonisingly close to taking the lead. Dawson found himself only six yards out and struck his effort well, but the ball crashed against the crossbar, leaving him unlucky not to score.
However, Marske were not to be denied. In the 90th minute, they completed a dramatic comeback when McBride scored from close range, finishing off a well-worked move to make it 2–1. The goal proved crucial, securing Marske’s safety.
Shortly after, the full-time whistle blew, bringing an end to the final home game of the season. Marske walked away with a vital three points after a determined and spirited performance, ensuring their place in the league was preserved.
