Nathan Thomas’s First Interview as a Seasider!

Conner Kacperski31 Jul 2023 - 08:33

In his first interview, Nathan Thomas shares his thoughts on joining the Seasiders and his expectations on the upcoming Northern Premier League Season

Nathan, welcome to Marske. What are your thoughts on joining the club?

I'm delighted to eventually get out across the line. It's been quite a few weeks. But yeah, really looking forward to getting started.

Obviously the season's just right around the corner now. So looking forward to getting going and hopefully doing well this season.

What was it that attracted you to this kind of project?

Probably the main instigator was the manager and what the club wanted to try and do in the next couple of seasons.

Obviously we want to try and push at the right end of the league, get right up and amongst some of the top teams and hopefully try and get out of it.

And do you come with bags of experience? English Football League, Scottish Premiership. How can you kind of build upon that at the club and help progress Marske?

I think it's more of my experience as an experienced level and the situations I've been through as a player.

I think I was a pro for 11 years and I played a lot of football in that time so every scenario I'd like to think I've come across at some point.

And it's helping the younger lads, especially we've got some younger lads on loan now and hopefully pushing people in the right direction about what they should be doing.

And things that can help them with their own game and then go back to the parent club so they can progress from here as a team.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming season?

If I'm honest I don't know a massive amount about the level but from what I've been told it's going to be a very challenging season, some good teams.

But I believe that the manager's assembling a squad that can challenge right at the top end of that league and that's where I've come far from the challenge at the top end of the league, not just mediocre.

And you've already featured on trial for the Seasiders playing in them two games*, especially that fantastic performance against Darlington. How can you integrate into the squad and what have you found those first couple of experiences in a Marske shirt?

To be fair I've been training for quite a few weeks now and dropping in in the games as and when I could. So integration into the squad I think is pretty much done. I've got to know quite a few of the boys already.

Some really good lads in the dressing room. So as far as settling in and things, I think that's already being done.

It's more of now I can really start putting my experience into it and offering more of an opinion on things. And hopefully getting those ready come to start the season.

And lastly there will be a lot of Marske United fans who will be really excited about your side. What kind of message would you like to give to them?

It's quite a game that supports us. There will be ups and downs this season, I'm sure there always is.

But the support of the village is the biggest thing and at the end of the year that's why we're all here to try and get mask as high as we can.

Brilliant, thank you Nathan and welcome to Marske!

Thank You.
