The Division Two outfit lead by three inside twenty minutes - Stephen Siyanbola on hand to turn home a hat-trick from three long balls out of defence.

Marske offered very little themselves before a double switch introduced Finn McKittrick and Cam Thomson.

McKittrick pulled one back on the hour, but it would prove too little too late for a Marske side Paul Burton admitted were far off the pace once again.

He had high praise for Jarrow, their organisation and resolve, but questioned the Seasiders poor start just ten days on from a similar collapse in Thornaby.

“I don’t think disappointing is even the right word to use for that,” the Marske boss said.

“I’m gobsmacked. I just can’t believe we’ve done it again. We caused our own downfall in the first fifteen, twenty minutes. It’s just so similar to the Thornaby game.

“Fair play to Jarrow, they took advantage of the three mistakes we made. We can have no excuses. They were just the better side on the day. They were more aggressive.

“They wanted it more than we did I thought.

“Once they’re three-up in that time, it’s comfortable for them. They can just take their foot off a yard, and make it difficult for us. Restrict us to absolutely nothing.

“The game was lost at halftime. I knew that. It would’ve taken something extremely special for them to fall to pieces and let us back into the game.

“You just can’t give teams a three goal start and expect to win games of football. We won’t accept that. It’s as simple as that.”

Marske did grow into the game after the introduction of Finn McKittrick, who made his return from injury earlier than expected.

The forward proved the Seasiders’ bright spark, adding much-needed impetus to the second half. He found the net during a scramble, but it would prove a mere consolation come the ninety.

“We made a couple of changes at halftime,” Burton said. “Any one of them could’ve come off, to be honest, and I told them that. We could have probably changed all eleven.

“I thought in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, we played a little bit more like we need to be. The last half hour was a little more scrappy.

“Finn was probably our bright spark. He was really sharp, and he scored as well with a great finish. You just can’t give sides that sort of a lead, and expect to win.

“We just have to start again on Monday in training. On Wednesday too. Hopefully we’ll see an improvement. A performance like that will not be accepted.”
