The Blue Lamps lead by two goals after the first five minutes - an unacceptable start the boss admitted killed any prospect of battling back into the game.

Kurtis Howes netted the first on his Teesdale Park return, soon turning provider for Spencer Walker to double the deficit.

Howes and Drummond scored in the second half to put the game firmly out of reach of the travelling Seasiders.

Paul Burton conceded it was an ‘unacceptable’ performance after what he labelled a good start to the season. He argued his team were far off the pace, and deservedly beaten on the night.

“I’m massively disappointed.” Burton said.

“I think the start we've had, we’ve been okay. We’ve looked pretty solid. We haven’t ever looked like we were going to give too many goals away.

“We started the game and five minutes in we’re two-nil down. You just can't afford to start a game of football like that.

“I thought after that, once we settled, we came into the game without really creating too many chances. We had a bit more of the ball and looked more aggressive.

“I said to them at halftime, you can’t expect to give teams a two goal start and expect to win games of football. It’s as simple as that.

“The important thing for me is that we went out in the second half and competed. To be honest with you, I don’t think we have.

“The third goal, Kurtis (Howes) is stood on his own in the box. He can just stroke it into the bottom corner. There’s no one within two or three yards of him.

“Fourth goal, the ball drops to (Luke) Drummond stood on his own again.

“They deserved the result. They were more aggressive than us. I think it’s easy when you’re two-up at halftime to be a bit more open, and play a bit more like that.

“In the second half, we went from bad to worse if I’m honest with you. It’s just not good enough. You can’t give teams a two goal start at any level, never mind in the Northern League.

“We got what we deserved unfortunately. It’s as simple as that.”
