Paul Burton branded Horden Welfare Park a difficult place to go ahead of Marske United’s latest trip to County Durham on Tuesday evening.

The Seasiders take on Horden CW on the back of three games unbeaten, the latest a dramatic draw with Newcastle Benfield at the MKM Stadium at the weekend.

Marske were far from their best, but salvaged a point in the depths of stoppage time when Charlie Watt stepped up to tuck home a dead ball.

Horden - on the other hand - claimed a fifth league win of the season with victory over Penrith. Philly Angus and Josh Daley made the scoresheet.

The Seasiders boss had plenty of praise for Tuesday’s opposition. He admitted the intention was to go there and win, but that any result would be a bonus given the quality on show.

“We approach it in the same way we approach every game.” He said.

“Of course, the intention is to go there and win. We want to work hard, make it difficult for them, and hopefully be able to play more possession football.

“I’ve been to watch Horden recently. It’s a nice pitch, it’s a great pitch, so that will make a difference in trying to keep up with the ball and pass it a bit more.

“It’ll be a tough test. It’s not an easy place to go. Horden were in the top six for most of last season. They maybe dropped away in the last three or four games, but it’s a tough, tough place to go.

“Anything we can get there will be a bonus.

“I keep talking about us building momentum. If you think back to Saturday, it was probably the worst we’ve played all season, but we got a point.

“That’s a massive plus to me. We’re now unbeaten in three games, so we’ll go to Horden on Tuesday and we’ll try to get something from the game.”
