Joe Dixon opened his account for Marske United in a heated contest by the breweries in sunny North Yorkshire.

It was the hosts - Tadcaster Albion - who took the lead from the spot. Oliver Norman made no mistake having been brought down clumsily on his path to goal.

Joe Dixon restored parity with an opportunistic - somewhat fortunate - finish from close range, well-positioned to bundle the ball home after a defensive error.

It was a perfect afternoon for football in the shadow of the John Smith’s brewery in sunny Tadcaster, and one the Seasiders looked to seize with early pressure.

Joe Dixon spread the play to find Cam Thomson, who couldn’t apply the finish, whilst Danny Boyle’s effort from deep whistled narrowly wide.

Finn McKittrick had his strike well held by Albion’s Ally Hughes, who was alert again to deny Joe Dixon with a thunderous strike from the edge of the area.

Despite edging the opening half hour, Marske were fortunate to head in at the break on level terms following a series of defensive mistakes.

Ed Campbell came the closest to taking advantage, streaking away from the backline to face an immovable object in Mike Algie, as Cole Roberts fired the rebound high and wide.

Matters took an ill-tempered twist when play resumed, a thrust of an elbow taking Tommy Marron to ground - the infringement left frustratingly unpunished.

Oliver Norman soon took the plaudits for putting the hosts in front, clipped in the area before steeping up and making no mistake from the spot.

Marske drew level not ten minutes later through Joe Dixon. The forward bundled Finn McKittrick’s low cross past Ally Hughes following a poor attempt to clear the danger.

Paul Burton had made near wholesale changes by the time the hydration break stopped play amidst the North Yorkshire sun.

The Seasiders fought admirably as the minutes ticked by, but perhaps deservedly shared the spoils with Tadcaster Albion come the referee’s final whistle.
