Marske United bowed out of the FA Vase at Perth Green, culpable of another poor start in the face of a spirited Jarrow side.

Stephen Siyanbola put the hosts in front. He netted a treble inside twenty minutes to end the Seasiders’ hopes of a Wembley run.

The introduction of Finn McKittrick saw Marske start the second period brighter. The substitute marked his return from injury with what proved but a consolation on the hour.

It was the hosts who enjoyed the better start on a gusty afternoon on South Tyneside.

One ball over the top was all it took to unravel the Seasiders’ backline. Stephen Siyanbola took control in time and space, firing past Mike Algie with little opposition.

The Jarrow forward soon turned home from close-range to double the advantage, latching on to Sean McRoberts’ long ball to complete his treble inside twenty minutes.

Matters could have worsened when McRoberts sought a goal of his own. Mike Algie reacted well to keep the arrears down, whilst Siyanbola fired the loose ball wide.

Marske had made improvements by the half. Tyler Goodman came the closest, turning to make space in the middle of the park, but curling his effort past the far post.

A double substitution saw Finn McKittrick return from injury earlier than expected. He almost made an instant impact when teeing up Jey Draper, who fired over the bar.

It was McKittrick who eventually put Marske on the board. The ball fell kindly to him in the wake of goal, and he fired into the roof of the net through a crowd of players.

Jarrow came close to restoring their cushion when Ewan Simpson was denied on the line by Joe Bennett. His second effort struck the woodwork, and again Siyanbola couldn’t convert the loose ball.

With Marske’s hopes all but gone, James Sayer’s frustrations got the better of him, and a late challenge saw the Seasiders end the game - and the FA Vase - a man short.
