Marske United vs Prescot Cables – Match Preview
Marske have their first home game for 3 weeks this coming Saturday when Prescot Cables make the visit to the North East coast from Merseyside.
The Pesky Bulls, as they are known, currently sit in 10th place in the table with 30 points to their name, having won 7, drawn 9 and lost 8 of their 24 games. They have only scored 28 goals in their 24 games but have an excellent defensive record with just 30 goals conceded all season. In recent games, their defensive record has been even better as they haven’t conceded a goal in over 270 minutes of football with their last two games ending in 0-0 draws at home to Trafford and Colne. Prior to that they beat Droylsden 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Matty Hamilton and a goal from Sean Myler. Over the Christmas period Prescot won only 1 point from 3 games against local rivals City of Liverpool, Marine and Runcorn Linnets.
Marske go into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at top of the table Workington but had previously won their last 4 league games, conceding only 1 goal in the process, suggesting that Saturday’s game will be a tight one between two teams with good defensive records. Lewis Maloney serves the last game of his 3 game ban and the Seasiders have added young Darlington FC attacker Lucas Bell on a 28 day loan. There could be further incomings and outgoings prior to Saturday.
Manager Carl Jarrett, looking forward to the game, stated “obviously, we are hoping for a big reaction against Prescot following Saturday’s defeat but it won’t be easy as they are in good form currently, so we won’t be underestimating them”.
Assistant Manager Nick Ward commented, “It will be another tough game, as it always is in this league, but we are looking for a big response to get back to winning ways”.
Man to Watch: Lloyd Dean – one of the most experienced players at the club having joined Prescot over 4 years ago Lloyd has scored over 50 goals for the Pesky Bulls.
