Josh is a familiar face to Marske supporters and was part of the Marske United side that won the 2014/15 Northern League title, before he departed to play for Halifax Town, where he stayed for 5 years, winning the 2016 FA Trophy and helping the club get promoted to the Conference National.

In total, Josh made 83 appearances for Halifax before joining Hartlepool United in the summer of 2020, where he was part of the squad that gained promotion back to the Football League. In August 2021, Josh secured a loan move to Northern Premier League Premier Division side Whitby Town, where he stayed for the remainder of the 2021/22 season, making 46 appearances as Whitby narrowly missed out on the play offs.
